Jay Kafer joined the Syracuse athletic department in August 2024 as Assistant Athletic Director for Development, Campaign Strategy, and Operations.
In this role, Kafer will deliver impact through leadership for a broad range of athletic fundraising and campaign priorities by streamlining strategic initiatives and stewardship priorities, overseeing project management, and communicating development objectives across Syracuse University Athletics and Advancement & External Affairs.
Prior to Syracuse, Kafer served as Director of Duck Athletic Fund Communications at the University of Oregon, where he oversaw the execution marketing and communications initiatives for the DAF and the athletic ticket office including annual giving campaigns, digital marketing, and brand development to acquire and retain donors through digital and print channels. In addition to his time at Oregon, Kafer spent two years as Assistant Director of Fan Communications at Wake Forest and also spent time as an Athletic Communications Assistant at Dayton and Vanderbilt.
He graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in sports management in 2016.
The Geneva, Ill. native resides in Liverpool, NY.
